Shichimi togarashi, or simply shichimi, is a Japanese 7-spice blend developed by Tokyo's Yagenbori herb shop in 1625. Originally sold for its medicinal properties, the seven spices are intentionally balanced: use everywhere from soup and noodle dishes to grilled fish and chicken‚ and save the super cute packaging.


  • Japanese seven spice mixture by Yamatsu Tsujita
  • This mixture highlights the yuzu while still giving you a little spice from the Hawk’s claw peppers
  • Ingredients: dried yuzu peel, red chili pepper, golden sesame seeds, seaweed, Japanese pepper (sansho), poppy seeds
